At the Talent Youth Center (TYC), we are dedicated to providing hope and opportunities through college and career readiness.

Career Opportunities in Trades

We focus on exposing students to the vast potential of trade careers, which are projected to grow by 8% over the next decade, creating millions of job openings in fields like construction and plumbing. Our partnerships with industry leaders enable us to offer training programs that provide hands-on experience and OSHA certification, enhancing employability and career prospects.

Virtual Reality College Tours

In addition, our innovative virtual reality (VR) college tours allow students to explore colleges and universities from our centers, high schools or through our loaner program. High school students can tour campuses based on their academic profiles, gaining insight into their options and fostering hope for their futures.

Our Impact

At the Talent Youth Center (TYC), our impact extends to various communities through targeted initiatives aimed at empowering students in trades careers.

Build a Block Initiative in Flint, MI

In Flint, we are proud to implement the Build a Block initiative, where students gain exposure to and licenses in trades careers. Through hands-on apprenticeship opportunities, they actively participate in fixing up dilapidated homes within their community, fostering both skill development and community revitalization.

Commercial Trades Initiative in Atlanta, GA

In Atlanta and the greater Atlanta area, including Muscogee County and Macon-Bibb counties, we focus on commercial trades. This initiative connects students with the vast opportunities available in trade careers, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the demands of the local job market.

New Initiative in NYC

We are excited to announce a brand-new initiative in New York City, aimed at exposing students in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Harlem to both residential and commercial trades. This program will provide essential training and resources, helping students build successful careers in their communities.

Through these initiatives, TYC is committed to creating pathways for students to thrive in trades careers while making a positive impact in their neighborhoods.
